A poem from my literary fiction: Life in the Barracks

The poem below is the one that Tibor, the book's main character, wrote to his sweetheart, Zsuzsa. He gave this poem to Zsuzsa at the time of their farewell. Farewell for a short or a long time? Or forever?
Who knows.

The Wind

The wind, roaring and rising,
Fills my eyes with sand,
I squint, I’m blinded,
Will I ever see you again?

The wind, roaring and rising,
With grimace, on my face,
I wipe my tears, and yell out:
Where are you? Come to me please!

The wind, roaring and rising,
As grows my anger:
“Why do you want to stop me,
From seeing her?”

The wind, roaring and rising,
As I start this fiendish song:
Your picture’s carved in my mind,
Where it indelibly belongs.

The wind, roaring and rising,
Keeps blowing sand in my eyes
But the grains are just puzzle pieces,
I solve it, and look: There you are!

The book is available on Amazon both in soft cover and Kindle format for $12.99 (at times discounted) and $2.99 respectively:
